SUMMARY:Part 2: Dollars and Demographics | How Census Data Shapes Federal Funding Distribution
DESCRIPTION:Census data shape the future of our community and define our voices in Congress. It determines how more than $1.5 trillion in federal government resources are distributed each year. An inaccurate census count can lead to the misallocation of federal funding\, with communities potentially losing out on millions of dollars from different federal programs due to an overcount and undercount of certain populations. Organizations across the country are working with state-level census data to fight for what their communities deserve and are beginning to prepare for an accurate count in 2030. \nJoin Project On Government Oversight (POGO) and Census Counts for a webinar on Wednesday\, June 26\, 2024 at 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. ET to explore how states use census data to advocate for increased census participation and funding at the state level\, such as engaging with the state budget processes to acquire equitable funding.
