DESCRIPTION:The Leadership Conference is excited to announce that we are launching our next installment of the Census Book Club! The book club features a series of books to deepen our understanding of the census and its impacts. Book club members will read one book approximately every quarter and meet as a group to engage in a conversation with the author. We look forward to compiling a comprehensive reading list for census advocates\, while coming together to learn more about the rich history and implications of the census. \nThe Leadership Conference is excited to announce that we are launching the next round of the Census Book Club! We look forward to compiling a comprehensive reading list for census advocates\, while coming together to learn more about the rich history and implications of the census. \nOur first book of 2023 is The American Census: A Social History\, Second Edition by Margo J. Anderson. This book is the first social history of the census from its origins to the present and has become the standard history of the population census in the United States. The second edition has been updated to trace census developments since 1980\, including the undercount controversies\, the arrival of the American Community Survey\, and innovations of the digital age. \nRegister here for Census Book Club and a conversation session with the author: January 24 at 4PM ET.
