SUMMARY:Input Opportunity: Renewed Clearance for American Community Survey/Puerto Rico Community Survey
DESCRIPTION:On November 5\, the Census Bureau published a Federal Register Notice (FRN) presenting a routine request for extension of the American Community Survey (ACS) and Puerto Rico Community Survey (PRCS) under the Paperwork Reduction Act. Agencies must ask for renewed clearance for ongoing surveys and other data collection activities every three years. This FRN offers an important opportunity to build a strong public record in support of maintaining and strengthening the ACS as the nation’s premier source of demographic\, housing\, social\, and economic data. Learn more about the importance of the ACS here! \nThe 60-day public comment period ended on January 6\, 2025.\nAdvocates and community-based organizations were welcome to use this comment template from The Leadership Conference to draft and submit their own comments.\nIt is important that the Census Bureau and the Office of Management and Budget hear from a diverse range of stakeholders\, so please customize these suggested points to highlight why the ACS is important to your individual or organizational work. The deadline to submit comments is 11:59 p.m. ET on January 6\, 2025\, and we recommend submitting via the Federal Register website as well as via email to acso.pra@census.gov.\nRead & Comment\n

SUMMARY:Virtual Briefing: How the Census Measures Racial Identity
DESCRIPTION:As politics\, policy\, migration and attitudes about racial identity changed over time\, so did the categories used in later counts. That makes the census both a mirror and a snapshot of how Americans see themselves – and how the government sees them. \nThis webinar brings together the author of Pew Research Center’s Counting Race: How the Census Measures Identity and What Americans Think About It\, and leaders from the Arab American Institute and MALDEF to examine how federal race and ethnicity categories are defined\, interpreted\, and experienced across different communities. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions of the panelists following the presentation. \nThis webinar is designed for state and local advocates\, community-based organizations\, government officials\, funders\, and partners committed to ensuring every community is counted\, and resourced\, fairly. \nWe hope you will join us for this critical session. \nClick Here to RSVP\n  \nClick Here to View the Report
