As politics, policy, migration and attitudes about racial identity changed over time, so did the categories used in later counts. That makes the census both a mirror and a snapshot of how Americans see themselves – and how the government sees them.
This webinar brings together the author of Pew Research Center’s Counting Race: How the Census Measures Identity and What Americans Think About It, and leaders from the Arab American Institute and MALDEF to examine how federal race and ethnicity categories are defined, interpreted, and experienced across different communities. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions of the panelists following the presentation.
This webinar is designed for state and local advocates, community-based organizations, government officials, funders, and partners committed to ensuring every community is counted, and resourced, fairly.
We hope you will join us for this critical session.
