OMB SPD 15 | News OMB Announcing Timeline Extensions for SPD 15 Implementation 

The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is extending timelines in its Statistical Policy Directive No. 15: Standards for Maintaining, Collecting, and Presenting Federal Data on Race and Ethnicity. The standards require the Chief Financial Officers Act Agencies and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to submit to OMB an Action Plan on Race and Ethnicity Data by September 28, 2025. OMB is extending this deadline to March 28, 2026.

AP News | News Census Bureau to test using postal workers as census takers in 2030 field trials next year

The Census Bureau plans to use U.S. postal workers as census takers in at least two locations during field tests next year for the 2030 census, which will determine political power and federal funding. The statistical agency said Friday in a notice to be published next week that it will test and assess the feasibility of using postal carriers to knock on doors and collect information about households for the once-a-decade head count of every U.S. resident.

Tides Advocacy, a California-based nonprofit dedicated to advancing social justice movements, hosted Beyond Impact 2025 in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor on Sept. 17 to 19. The convening assembled organizers, community leaders and advocates to exchange ideas, share resources and align strategies for change. During the three-day conference, panel conversations and breakout sessions tackled issues, like voting rights, public safety, coalition building and organizer well-being. The goal of Beyond Impact 2025 was to strengthen the infrastructure of social movements by equipping attendees with the tools, networks and vision to defend democracy and create sustainable, community-centered equity.

West Orlando News | News Republicans Want Florida Census Undercount Corrected & New Congressional Maps

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Attorney General James Uthmeier want a census undercount corrected in the Sunshine State, and Democrats disagree. Republicans also want to redraw congressional maps, while Democrats say it is political a scheme to steal elections. The Florida AG backed up the Governor. “Florida was robbed by the left’s multi-year effort to rig the 2020 Census, and Floridians didn’t get the representation they deserve in Congress,” said Attorney General James Uthmeier. “President Trump called for a new census, and I’m ready to work with Governor DeSantis to bring solutions to the president and get it done.”

U.S. Census Bureau | Press Release Business Trends and Outlook Survey Data Release — September 25, 2025

The U.S. Census Bureau today released new data products from the Business Trends and Outlook Survey (BTOS), a survey that measures business conditions and projections on an ongoing basis. The BTOS includes data for multiunit/multilocation businesses. BTOS will continue to collect data complementary to key items found on other economic surveys, such as revenues, employees, hours, and inventories.

U.S. Census Bureau | Press Release 2023 Business Dynamics Statistics Data Available  

The U.S. Census Bureau today released the 2023 Business Dynamics Statistics (BDS). The data provide measures of business dynamics, such as job creation and destruction, establishment births and deaths, and firm startups and shutdowns for the economy overall and aggregated by establishment and firm characteristics. BDS is an annual time series spanning 1978 to 2023.

U.S. Census Bureau | Blog Post Childlessness on the Rise — Except for Women Ages 45 to 50 

The share of childless women increased in every age group except those ages 45 to 50, according to recently released data from the U.S. Census Bureau’s Current Population Survey Fertility Supplement. In 2024, 97.8% of teens ages 15 to 19 were childless, up from 95.9% in 2014 — confirming previous research that showed declining teen pregnancies and births in recent years. The rise in childlessness was especially steep among women in their 20s and early 30s.
